Trivia about Dan that's not on his resume:

Is a dual citizen: USA and Austria.
Taught English for a year in Czechoslovakia in 1990-1991, where he witnessed the impact on the environment of the use of soft coal for heating. This inspired Dan to pursue a career in clean energy (an industry that essentially did not exist then).
Has played bass guitar in rock bands since high school, logging in hundreds of shows in a dozen states. Currently in Desoto Reds.
Has a tattoo of a bike chain on his right calf, a nod to his love of bicycle transportation and his work during graduate school for the City of Austin's Department of Transportation as a bike transportation analyst.

Why Amplo?

Ampolo means "lightbulb" in Esperanto, the international language. Dan Lieberman's father, Jim Lieberman, was fluent in Esperanto, founded the Esperantic Studies Foundation, and was president of the worldwide Esperanto Society. Esperanto means "one who hopes", and Jim believed deeply in the importance of communication and language in making the world a better, smaller place with mutual understanding.
